Today, we set off on a city tour of Lilongwe. We’ll start with a visit to the memorial of Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda, Malawi’s first President, followed by a stop at the Parliament Building. Next, we’ll head to the World War I Memorial pillar, where you can climb the tower for a stunning view of the city. Afterwards, we’ll explore Old Town, with visits to Shree Radhakrishna Mandir and the Indian Sports Club. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

After breakfast, enjoy a picturesque drive through the countryside towards Blantyre. On clear days, you may even catch a glimpse of Mozambique on your right. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

The day begins with a tour of Blantyre, Malawi’s commercial hub. The city has deep historical connections to Scottish missionaries, named after David Livingstone’s birthplace in Scotland. Our first stop is the Shree Satyanarayan Temple, followed by St. Michael’s Cathedral, a beautiful red-brick church built between 1888 and 1891. We then visit the Chichiri Museum, which showcases the rich history and culture of Malawi, with exhibits ranging from Stone Age tools to historical banknotes, musical instruments, and artifacts related to the slave trade and Malawi’s independence. The museum also displays a 1902 locomotive, Malawi’s first fire engine, a Nyasaland bus, and a traditional house. Finally, we’ll visit the Indian Blantyre Sports Club. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Today, we travel to Liwonde National Park, passing through Zomba, which was once the colonial capital of Malawi. As we drive to the plateau, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views stretching all the way to the Mulanje Mountain. The plateau, part of the Sire Highlands, sits at an altitude of 1,800 meters (6,000 feet). On the way, we’ll stop by the King’s African Rifles memorial, now known as the Malawi Rifles, and visit the clock tower, which commemorates World War I. We’ll also see the old Parliament building and the Gymkhana Club. In the afternoon, unwind with a sunset cruise on the Mangunda River, soaking in the serene surroundings.

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Liwonde National Park before breakfast. This park is home to an impressive array of wildlife, including elephants, hippos, crocodiles, lions, and recently reintroduced species like wild dogs and cheetahs. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, enjoy some leisure time until lunch. Later, we head to Mangochi, once known as Fort Johnston, a key site established to curb the slave trade moving towards Zanzibar. We’ll take a brief orientation tour of Mangochi, where you can explore historical landmarks such as the clock tower dedicated to Queen Victoria and a Hotchkiss gun from the Gwendolen, a gunboat that patrolled Lake Malawi from 1889 to 1940. Nearby, there’s a memorial for the 145 lives lost in the 1946 MV Viphya tragedy. Afterward, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay by the beautiful Lake Malawi.
