Day 1: Arrival in Guatemala City – Transfer to Antigua

Fly into Guatemala City and transfer to your hotel in the charming town of Antigua. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring at your own pace. Known for its well-preserved colonial charm, Antigua feels like stepping back in time with its cobblestone streets and stunning architecture. Start your day with a guided walking tour of Antigua, a city steeped in colonial history. Santiago Atitlan – Village Tour – Lake Atitlán

Today meet your local guide to the boat transfer to Santiago and San Juan. Along the shores of Lake Atitlan, you may find different towns, each of these villages is named after the twelve apostles. Santiago (St.James), is a village located on the south end, home to Maximon, a pagan saint who drinks moonshine and smoke cigars. Maximon is visited every day by locals, healers and tourists asking for favors. San Juanla Laguna, famous for its naïf art galleries, town murals and natural dyes textiles. Embark on a scenic boat tour along the Rio Dulce (Sweet River), crossing through the expansive “El Golfete” area, home to the Chocon Machaca Park and floating gardens. Today, travel to the Yaxha Archaeological Site, located about 30 km southeast of Tikal and 75 km from Flores. Known for being featured on the CBS reality show “Survivor” in 2005, Yaxha is an important ceremonial center nestled between the Yaxha and Sacnab lagoons. Explore the site’s over 500 structures, including 40 stelae, two ball courts, and nine pyramids. The architectural influences of Teotihuacan are evident here, and it boasts the only twin pyramid complex outside of Tikal.
