Discover the dual charms of Sikkim with our premier Gangtok and Pelling tour package. Transition from the vibrant, monastery-dotted hills of Gangtok to the breathtaking, high-altitude serenity of Pelling, home to the iconic Skywalk and unparalleled views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Perfect for nature lovers and spiritual seekers, this curated itinerary offers an immersive journey through sacred waterfalls, ancient ruins, and the majestic peaks of the Eastern Himalayas.

Day 1: Arrival & Mountain Ascent

Touchdown at Bagdogra (IXB) or NJP Station. Enjoy a scenic drive through the Teesta River valley as you ascend toward Gangtok. Check into your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. We recommend a walk through MG Marg to soak in the local culture and cuisine.

  • Overnight stay in Gangtok.

After breakfast, drive to the sacred Tsomgo Lake (12,400 ft) and Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir. These high-altitude sites offer a stunning glimpse into the rugged beauty of the Himalayas. Return to Gangtok in the evening for shopping or relaxation.

  • Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Morning sightseeing includes the Do Drul Chorten, Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, and Enchey Monastery. After lunch, begin a picturesque 5-hour drive to Pelling in West Sikkim. As you arrive, witness the dramatic change in landscape as the mountains appear much closer.

  • Overnight stay in Pelling.

Explore the natural wonders of Pelling: Rimbi Waterfalls, Sewaro Rock Garden, and the sacred Khecheopalri Lake, believed to be a “wish-fulfilling” lake. Visit the Kanchenjunga Waterfalls, one of the most powerful falls in the region. Finish the day at the historic Rabdentse Ruins, the second capital of the former Kingdom of Sikkim.

  • Overnight stay in Pelling.

Start your day with a thrill at the Pelling Skywalk, India’s first glass walk, offering a dizzying view of the valley and the giant Chenrezig Statue. Visit the 300-year-old Pemayangtse Monastery, the premier monastery of the Nyingmapa sect. Spend your final evening enjoying the sunset over the snow-capped peaks.

  • Overnight stay in Pelling.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the mountains. Transfer back to Bagdogra Airport or NJP Station for your onward journey, carrying the tranquility of Sikkim in your heart.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Pelling better than Gangtok for mountain views?

While Gangtok offers beautiful vistas, Pelling is significantly closer to the Kanchenjunga range. From almost any point in Pelling, the mountains appear massive and towering, providing a much more intimate “alpine” experience compared to the city feel of Gangtok.

Known as the “Wishing Lake,” it is sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus. A fascinating local legend claims that birds do not allow a single leaf to float on the lake’s surface, picking them up as soon as they fall to keep the water crystal clear.

The Skywalk features a transparent glass floor overlooking a deep gorge. While it is structurally very safe and built to international standards, it can be exhilarating. There are non-glass sections for those who prefer to avoid the transparent view while still seeing the Chenrezig statue.

The 120km journey takes about 5 hours. While the scenery is stunning, some stretches can be bumpy due to the hilly terrain. We use high-clearance SUVs (like Innova or Xylo) to ensure maximum comfort during this mountain transit.
