Day 01: Arrival – Cellular Jail & Light & Sound Show

Arrive at Port Blair in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel for check-in. After lunch, visit the Cellular Jail, a historic national memorial. Built in 1906 by the British, this three-story prison was designed for solitary confinement and earned the island the infamous name of Kala Pani. The Cellular Jail holds great significance in India’s freedom struggle, having housed many prominent freedom fighters. It stands as a silent witness to the brutalities endured by the prisoners, most of whom were national heroes.

In the evening, enjoy the captivating Light and Sound Show at the Cellular Jail, which brings the heroic story of India’s freedom struggle to life. The show offers a vivid portrayal of the prison’s connection to the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. Overnight stay in Port Blair.

After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the jetty to board the ferry to Swaraj Dweep (Havelock Island). Located about 54 kilometers northeast of Port Blair, this serene tropical island covers 86 square kilometers and is renowned for its crystal-clear waters, perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving. With its rich marine life, including over 1,000 species of aquatic creatures, it’s an underwater paradise. Divers can witness stunning marine life, including nudibranchsghost pipefish, and a variety of crustaceans.

Upon arrival at Havelock Island, our representative will meet you at the jetty and transfer you to Radhanagar Beach (Beach No. 7), often called the crown jewel of the island. This beautiful beach, known for its soft white sand, clear waters, and surrounding tropical forest, was rated as Asia’s finest by TIME magazine in 2004. It offers ample opportunities for relaxation or beach activities.

In the afternoon, return to Port Blair by ferry, as per the ferry schedule, for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, embark on a visit to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Island (Ross Island), the former administrative capital of the Andaman Islands under British rule. Now under the Indian Navy, the island stands as a poignant reminder of its colonial past, with the ruins of old buildings and structures in disrepair. Explore the Smritika Museum, which houses photographs and antiques from the British era, offering insight into the history of the island. The island is also known for its friendly deer and lush green walking trails, making it a peaceful retreat.

Next, sail to North Bay, also known as Coral Island. This beautiful spot is famous for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs. Here, you can enjoy a Glass Bottom Boat Ride or opt for snorkelingsea walking, or scuba diving (available at an additional cost) to explore the fascinating underwater world. After a day of exploration, return to Port Blair for an overnight stay.

Embark on an early morning adventure to Baratang Island, a hidden gem known for its natural beauty (departure at 0430 hrs). The journey by road covers 110 km (approximately 3.5 hours) and takes you through dense equatorial forests and scenic creeks. Upon arrival, enjoy a thrilling mangrove creek journey aboard a fiber-speed boat, which takes you to the famous Limestone Caves.

These ancient caves, located around 30 minutes by sea from Baratang Jetty, are a must-see for nature lovers. The journey through the mangrove-lined creek offers stunning views, followed by a short trek through a local village and forest to reach the caves. Please note that photography is strictly prohibited in the jungle area. After exploring the caves, return to Port Blair in the evening for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel (by 0800 hrs) and head to Wandoor Beach, located 30 km from Port Blair. The journey takes you through an area affected by the Tsunami, which was once paddy land but is now covered with water, resembling a serene lake. This area is a haven for birdwatchers, where you may spot a variety of migratory wetland birds.

After spending some time enjoying the peaceful surroundings, you will be dropped at the airport for your onward journey. Leave with cherished memories of a wonderful holiday in the Andaman Islands.
